Newsgroups are a discussion forum popular with Internet users. Users can monitor and/or participate in discussions covering a very wide range of topics. Newsgroups are a lot like public bulletin boards where persons can "post" a message for everyone to read and anyone can "post" an additional message(s) in response. Keep in mind that Newsgroups are public forums that anyone can read.

"Subscribing" to a Newsgroup is a free service. If you are a big Gloria Este-fan you may wish to subscribe to alt.fan.gloria-estefan (for example). Actually, "subscribe" (when referring to a news group) means adding a group to a different list. This is done so you don't have to scroll through several thousand groups, when you are only interested in a few. You may un-subscribe to a group just as easily.

There are 3 Gloria Estefan Newsgroups:

alt.fan.gloria-estefan, alt.binaries.gloria-estefan & free.alt.fan.gloria-estefan

BIG NOTE: I found out that the 3 Gloria newsgroups are only available at a couple of Dutch newsgroups servers.
If you don't have a Dutch provider, please ask your ISP to add the newsgroups to their server.
Every ISP has a different news server, if you are not sure what the news server of your ISP is, please contact them.
Also, if all of the above doesn't work, please visit www.deja.com and look for the newsgroups there.

Here is how you can subscribe to the newsgroups if you use Netscape 3.x or Outlook Express (Internet Explorer) 4.x.

1. Netscape:

Netscape 3.x users can check their settings by choosing 'Options' then 'Mail and News Preferences'.
In the 'Preferences' window click the 'Servers' tab. Make sure your 'News (NNTP) Server' is pointed to
'the news server of your ISP'.
To access the 'Newsgroups' from 'Netscape' select 'Window' then 'Netscape News'.

2. Outlook Express:

Once Outlook Express has opened, you may check the settings by choosing
'Tools' then 'Accounts'. Now click the 'Properties' button and fill out the right information.
